Interpretation Style

Simultaneous Interpretation

This interpretation style enables audience to listen to interpretation almost at the same time as a speaker speaks. This style requires interpreters to be in a specialized booth and requires dedicated equipment. This is often used for international conferences, lecture meetings and broadcasting interpretation.

Typical Setting: Seminar, lecture meeting, symposium, press conference, shareholder meeting, training with a large participants, panel discussion.

Consecutive Interpretation

In this style, a speaker speaks several sentences, followed by an interpreter interpreting the sentences.

Typical setting: Business meeting, lecture meeting, seminar, attend interpreting, press conference etc.

Whispering Interpretation

In this style, a speaker speaks several sentences, followed by an interpreter interpreting the sentences.

Typical setting: Business meeting, lecture meeting, seminar, attend interpreting, press conference etc.

Attendant Interpretation

An interpreter attends to the subject person and either provides consecutive or whispering interpretation.

Typical Setting: Guide at exhibition, event etc.

Fees (Japanese/English)

Advance Meeting

1st time: Free of charge

Subsequent meetings : 10,000yen/meeting (within 90 minutes)(tax excluded)

 

Extra charge for an additional interpreter to accompany for a half-day is discounted 50%.

Please note that prices may vary depending on the level of difficulty of the work and other factors. Also, the prices not include consumption tax.

2. In principle, one interpreter is dispatched for half a day, two or more in excess of a half-day for any consecutive interpreting assignment.
In cases of simultaneous interpreting, two interpreters are dispatched for three hours or less, and 3 to 4 interpreters for an assignment for three hours or more.


3 The half-day fee is charged for three hours or less for an interpreter’ time, including breaks.
If four hours of an interpreter’s time is required, the half-day charge plus one hour of overtime is charged.
The full-day fee is charged for eight hours of an interpreter’s time.
In the case of attendant interpreting, each hour that the interpreter spends with the attendee from assembly to dismissal is considered as work hours.


4.Cancellation Fees
Please note that all alterations, including changes of assignment date and time, requested after AI Communication Inc. has contacted the client with the confirmation of interpreting services are subject to the following cancellation fees.

4 or 5 days prior: 30% of the estimate
3-2 days prior: 50% of the estimate
1 day or the actual date: 100% of the estimate

・The number of days of advance notice is calculated based on the number of business days (i.e., Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese national holidays are not included in the calculation). This means that Friday cancellation of an assignment scheduled for the following Monday would be considered one day of advance notice.
・For assignments of seven to thirteen days (including travel time and on-site non-working days), a fee is charged for cancellations made with fourteen or fewer days of advance notice (including Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese national holidays). For assignments of fourteen days or more (including travel time and on-site non-working days), a fee is charged for cancellations made with one month or less of advance notice (including Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese national holidays), Full details are provided with cost estimates


5.Business Trip
Assignments in prefectures other than Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Saitama are considered as business trips. Assignments in regions that lie 100 km or more from Tokyo Station are considered business trips, even if they are within the prefectures mentioned above.

6. Advance consent from interpreter(s) is required when interpreting is used in a secondary manner, including release on the Internet. Please inform us in advance of any secondary usage.
